Artificial Intelligence and the Criminal Justice System
Abstract
IBM has already started A.I. applications in the legal world and many document writings or other legal writings are being done by the Artificial Intelligence based machine-learnt applications. In the the medical fields also after diagnosis, prognosis etc. can be better handled by the Artificial Intelligence, of course
with some selective interventions by the medical experts. Like aircrafts in the auto Pilot modes also need oversights of human Pilots to see that things are happening in the right course, we may also need human oversights in the criminal justice system selectively after the optimization of AI based applications
in this field. A.I. does total objectivity in the decision making processes and then does fast data mining of relevant information or retrievals of court cases to quote them as relevant precedences which human brains may not do so quickly and efficiently due to certain constraints.
